CBAMfix or a large CBAM suite?
For CBAM there are lean tools and large compliance platforms. Which one fits depends less on the number of features than on your needs: how much you import, how many suppliers you have and which other obligations you have to meet. Here is honestly when CBAMfix fits – and when it doesn't.
By need: what fits?
You import less than or just over 50 t of CBAM goods a year and want to know whether and when you need the authorisation.
CBAMfix fitsThat's what CBAMfix is built for: Threshold Watch with projection, traffic light and a warning before the authorisation deadline.
You want to see prices and start right away – without a demo call or quote round.
CBAMfix fitsAll prices are public on the pricing page; 14-day trial without payment details.
You have few suppliers and need the annual declaration with official default values.
CBAMfix fitsThe declaration uses the European Commission's default values and benchmarks; one-off €149.00 or as a subscription.
You are a customs agency or forwarder serving many small importers.
CBAMfix fitsClients in one account, bulk import from your customs software, traffic light per client and read-only access for your customers.
You need CBAM, EUDR, the Packaging Regulation and sustainability reporting in one platform.
Rather a large suiteCBAMfix deliberately covers CBAM only. For several regulations a compliance suite is the better choice.
You work with many suppliers worldwide and need a supplier portal in many languages.
Rather a large suiteThe CBAMfix supplier portal is available in English and German – for worldwide supplier networks in many languages a large suite is the better choice.
You need an ERP integration and a group structure with many companies.
Rather a large suiteCBAMfix imports documents and CSV files; there is no ERP interface.
You want to manage certificate holdings, plan and hedge purchases.
Rather a large suiteCBAMfix calculates certificates and costs but does not manage holdings or purchases.
Your procurement requires a certified provider (e.g. ISO 27001) or advice and training from one source.
Rather a large suiteCBAMfix has no such certification and does not offer advice.
What CBAMfix can do
- Read import documents with AI: CN code, net mass, country of origin, acceptance date – each item only after your confirmation
- Check every CN code against Annex I, with all exclusions
- Count the 50-tonne threshold per calendar year, project it and warn by e-mail – with an eye on the authority's processing time
- Calculate the CBAM declaration with official default values and benchmarks, certificates and costs, CSV export as a template for the registry (deadline for 2026: 30 September 2027)
- Supplier portal: your supplier enters the emission data of their installation via a link (English or German), you check and accept – verified values replace the default value
- Customs agency edition with clients, bulk import and read-only access
- Login with passkey or two-factor code, team access
- Servers in Germany, no advertising or tracking cookies
What CBAMfix cannot do
- XML export for the CBAM registry – the Commission has not yet published the format for the annual declaration; until then CSV as a template
- Managing certificate holdings and purchases
- ERP or API interfaces
- Other regulations such as EUDR or CSRD
- Certifications such as ISO 27001, advice, training
What to look for in any CBAM software
- Does it use the rules of the definitive period – 50-tonne threshold, mark-ups on default values, free allocation adjustment – and no longer the quarterly reports of the transitional period?
- Are prices known in advance, and what does it cost if you only need the declaration once a year?
- Where is your data stored, and is there a data processing agreement?
- How does your import data get in – documents, CSV from customs software, interface?
- What happens to your data when you cancel?
Who is behind CBAMfix
CBAMfix is a young product of GambTec, a sole proprietorship of Toni Gambino in Berlin, Germany. The application runs on servers in Germany; we openly state calculation methods and sources – Regulation, implementing regulations, the Commission's default values – in our CBAM guide. We have no certificates or reference logos to show and don't claim otherwise. Try it and decide for yourself.
